Hello and greetings from Big White, located in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada.
Yesterday morning at 9 clock was downhill for me and Holly came and thanks to the nice ride service from the home we Riess problems in Frankfurt, where we still a small parting wheat indulged, and our patience was strained during the operation very much.
The security check this time was surprisingly intense. We were waved out both because of the metal detector beeped even despite put-belt, and subjected to intensive investigation. My shoes had to then go again through the extra-ray machine, and the time was used to intensively check my soles of the feet on bombs and rockets. When I finally was allowed to continue, I was waved out because the laptop in a backpack once again and in an adjoining room, a swab of the keyboard has been evaluated in a special unit: negative ;-)
The flight was very long then (10h) and quite boring, since Air Canada deals very sparingly with the televisions. The thought for us was 5 or 6 rows in front of us ... but at the modest movies that did not matter.
something before the scheduled time we arrived in Calgary, where measures such as our bags in reception and 5 minutes later tasks, because we had to continue flying to Kelowna.
The well-3h waiting time we bridged in a pub rather quickly.
Since we were awake for a long time, went to the 2nd German time Flight in the middle of the night. Therefore, we slept n is both even before the start. Independently we woke up again within 10 min and both thought that we still then would not start because it was so dark out there on the mountains. Holger even complained that it was "not really be" could that we would wait for over 45 minutes now to the start (at the time we just put in to land already;)).
The pickup in Kelowna working with the taxi also perfect transfer, all baggage arrived and the driver sped up the mountains with us.
After a pitcher of beer in a bar, we fell by 11 clock finally to bed, according to German time, then about 32 Clock mode already.
With jet lag, we were awake very early today and were able to prepare perfectly for the first day on the slopes. Breakfast taken more quickly in front of the supermarket and then went out shortly after 9 los. To 11 clock we were almost completely alone on the road. The snow last week, unfortunately, somewhat slumped in itself, since there were plenty of sun. The foundation, however, is very remarkable, we can go wonderfully, except that the powder is missing right now. Departures between trees were also held in heaps and were held in part with Holger's helmet camera. If it works, we will try a cut video on youtube upload.
have to weather a good and a bad night view:
The bad news: there is virtually no snow announced
The good news: it's snowing but the whole day, sometimes more and sometimes less where it is now increasingly in the evening, even down in the village. The report disputes that all things yet, actually we were supposed to have sun today with a few clouds ... BUT we do not complain and are happy with the wrong weather. Hopefully it will not be canceled even ... The only announced "Afternoon Flurries" are now a pretty popular saying has become, which can be used anytime, anywhere.
Now some photos from today (again, we did not yet):
